This re­lease most­ly ad­dress­es an is­sue dur­ing de­vel­op­ment, en­coun­tered us­ing data­bas­es that do not ful­ly sup­port XA (like SQLServ­er). If you are run­ning Atomikos in pro­duc­tion and don’t see any cur­rent is­sues then it is prob­a­bly safe to skip this up­grade.
