Our products are optimized for easy integration into commodity-based, high-throughput Java platforms, thereby overcoming the limitations of, for instance, J2EE™. We mainly target eXtreme Transaction Processing (XTP) and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) platforms.

Example: Electronic Trading (XTP)

Electronic trading typically needs the ability to consume trading events and process them as business transactions in the database(s). Traditionally, this has mostly been in the financial sector but today we see this type of activity in a lot of other sectors as well, such as with energy suppliers (trading their reserves with partner suppliers), digital media (processing orders), voice-over-IP (call setup and billing), IP television (billing) or electronic gaming (billing).

Example: Telecom (SOA)

The telecom business is often characterized by relatively complex internal processes. For instance, the simple fact of reserving a phone number for a subscriber can involve a series of automated steps tied into a bigger process. Likewise, downloading ring tones can pose interesting challenges, especially when customers with a pre-paid card are involved.

BPEL or web services are often perceived as a solution, but the result is often worse than before: BPEL by itself requires you to model the error path as well. In other words: for every step along the process, you need to explicitly model the reverse path in case of errors. The resulting processes quickly become unmanageable, brittle and unreliable.
